Clay Sculpture Technical Details

I hand build clay sculptures of weird animals and (weirder) people.  Each sculpture is bisque fired to cone 08 (1728°F) and then glazed at cone 6 (2232°F) in an electric kiln.

  • All faces start as a cylinder and get created from the bottom up.
  • Turtles usually have human hands and feet.
  • Kangaroos usually have a cat joey.
  • How to tell the difference between a snake and an earthworm:
  •       Earthworms have 2 nostrils;
  •       Snakes have a mouth or eyes and sometimes both.
  • Some birds have dinosaur spines, some have scaly feathers and some have ridiculously long beaks.
  • This sculpture has snakes for hair, earthworm moustache, snakes in his ears, ladybugs in his eyes and a bird for a nose!
